Forced periodic operations of a chemical reactor for methanol synthesis – The search for the best scenario based on Nonlinear Frequency Response Method. Part I Single input modulations

In this two-part paper a comprehensive study of the potential to improve performance criteria methanol synthesis reactor through forced periodical operations is presented. The uses Nonlinear Frequency Response method, powerful analytical and approximate tool which gives an answer whether under conditions certain periodic operation would lead improvement process performance. To demonstrate isothermal isobaric in lab-scale CSTR considered. Part I, analysis performed for single input modulations. Partial pressures each reactant feed stream total inlet volumetric flow-rate are considered as possible modulated inputs. results show that modulations inputs essentially do not provide significant improvements. II, will be extended with simultaneous two offering enhancements identified.
